I’m so excited to share with you this post because I finally convinced Doug to be in some of the pictures on my blog and no not just showing his back like this post (trust me, this took a lot of convincing). For those of you who haven’t been following my blog a long time, Doug is my boyfriend and the designer and photographer for most of the pictures you see here on DDD. He also runs an automotive culture blog called The Driven Lifestyle. When I approached him with the idea of doing a collaboration on my blog he replied “But I have no style!” Which is of course ridiculous, because everyone has a certain personal style whether they notice it or not. We talked it over and realized his style is definitely more of a laid back, effortless one with touches of that certain Cali appeal. Since he works on the marketing side of the automotive industry, suits and ties aren’t always necessary so throwing on the nearest pair of Sperrys and a button down is his go-to. Some of his favorite places to shop are Banana Republic(for a great pair of cords or well made jacket), Urban Outfitters (for a quirky t-shirt), and of course Lids because it wouldn’t be Doug unless there was a 59 fifty baseball hat thrown in there somewhere.
When I first met Doug around three years ago, he wouldn’t be caught without his tan Dickies, Vans, A’s hat, and fraternity Rush shirt. To say he’s come along way would be an understatement. It might be the combination of graduating and starting his career or maybe that he’s grown out of his clothes(haha), but his style has really evolved. For this look he decided to pair his everyday Sperrys with a casual button down and favorite Ralph Lauren shorts. The colors are pretty neutral so they act as staple pieces in his wardrobe. I decided to go pretty casual with my favorite ripped jeans and Lucky Brand jacket I’ve had for years. Super comfy and perfect for browsing downtown Santa Cruz on our mini vaca.
